Can you hear it in all rooms or just certain room(s)?
Turn the mains water off and see does that stop the noise.
Low frequency sound can travel through the ground so what you're hearing might come from the neighbour's house/shed. Some nights I can sometimes hear a dull thumping from footsteps on the public footpath even though it's separated a high block boundary wall, 4m of ground and a block cavity wall.

Battery powered clocks or timers will also hum.

You only need a really thin piece of foam or similar to isolate the noise from the wall.
