I've a blocked lateral pipe running between my kitchen drain and septic tank.

My husband tried two lots of a chemical a few months back, and it did partially clear at the time. He also tried rodding at the drain access but this particular drain has a length that isn't accessible (just don't ask!). It's pooling badly again outside my ktchen window and I think it's a build up of washing powder over time in the pipe.

I need to call out someone to look at this but I don't have a clue who to call and my husband isn't around right now to ask for advice on this.

What do I ask, as I don't someone trying to take advantage of me, thinking I won't know what I'm talking about? Do they need to do CCTV? I cant afford this to be an expensive job so how much should this type of this cost?

    Thanks

If it's a simple blockage which in my experience is usually caused by toilet paper, baby wipes or similar or grease (or a combination of the three) then a single pass of a high pressure jetter should clear it. The jetting unit is usually housed in a Transit sized van and call out charges vary from €60 to €100 with CCTV usually costing an extra €80 to €100. This charge can vary based on your location, access to jetting point and time spent on the job.

The benefit of the CCTV is that it will identify any defects in the pipe that may be causing the blockage e.g. pipe collapse or deformation.

Do an online search for drain unblocking services in your area/county and call a few for a quote.

The things going into this drain are my dishwasher, two showers and two sinks, kitchen sink, and washing machine.

It's a lot of detergent for one pipe.

    ChalkItDown :)

It was emptied by an appropriately licensed contractor in February or March. We even changed the pump as it wasn't working.
