Depends on how much of a hurry you are in to get rid. Average asking price on DD as above seems to be 13-14k. No guarantee of getting that.

Aaaah, the good 'ol timing chain question....

Makes no difference to the value of the car whatsoever so pointless question.

If it was done I'd be confident in pricing it on the high side. People know about the problem, knowing it's done makes the car more attractive.

Of course it makes a difference to the price of the car. It's expensive enough to get done.

The motor trade are well aware of it and price trade-ins accordingly. Joe Public less so though.

Oh that it was that simple. ... It's from your mileage onwards that it's an issue. ...The prospect of a 3k - 6k bill most assuredly affects the value.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

What would it cost to do the chain?

What would it cost to do the chain?

Around €3-5k depending on who you go to. If you're selling it immediately why would you bother - just price accordingly.

    It's 2k if it's rattling, 3k if it's fooked;)

Edit: that's at a BMW Indy! The BMW price is 6k

Does the e92 325i suffer from this issue also ?

There are lads doing it a lot cheaper now. Anyone still charging 3k is taking the mick. I know lads that can have those engines out on the floor in an hour.

    I paid €750, with a local mechanic a few months ago. That's on a 316 petrol

if the timing Chain is ok, I would say the car is worth max 12 grand.

most irish buyers do not like high mileage cars and lets be honest, this for most irish buyers is very high mileage. Yes I know, it is only just broke in, but the irish buyer will not see it this way.

    No it doesn't.

Only 4 cylinder diesel engines, aka the ****e engines that have no business being in a BMW.

    :pac:
