It's flying Izmir - Dublin via Cologne tonight, over an hour's delay. It's still in the air, but I'm wondering why it landed in Cologne. I remember a thread a while ago about a Fuertaventura - Dublin flight which made a fuel stop, but Izmir has a 11,630 foot runway. Not a whisper online about it. Anyone shed any light on it? I'm on mobile so this is the best link I can give: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/ei799/ .

Well its not performance limited on a 3500M runway so must be a technical problem enroute.

Cologne isn't even a EI destination

    Most likely technical or medical

That flight from Izmir to Dublin has diverted to Cologne a number of times in the last few weeks. It has resulted in extremely long travel times for the passengers. I can only assume that the aircraft is at the edge of its range for the distance and headwind but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable here will correct me!

It stopped for fuel. Most likely fully loaded in terms of passengers and bags, and I'm sure the temperature etc. come into it. It's very close, whether it'll go to CGN or not, but it was definitely for fuel.
