Hi All, I am in desperate need of help. I am a chief bridesmaid for my friends wedding that was due to take place Feb 2016. Her father has just been given 3 months to live so everything is pushed to this December. She is about a size 18/20 and we need to find her a wedding dress. Obviously it is too late to be ordering one etc so can anyone recommend a place where we can buy plus sizes off the rack? We are based in Kerry but will travel anywhere.

Thanks all, I just want to do as much as I can for her.

She doesn't really want to go down the route of buying on the net as its too time consuming.

    X

Off the top of my head I would be thinking Smart Brides in Port Laoise but maybe a call before going to check sizes in store. Alternatively a sample sale or something, worth 'friending' local bridal shops on facebook to see when they are on.

good suggestions in the above post.
Would your friend be open to the idea of a second hand dress?

If so then how about a website 'weddingthingsforsale.com', they might have something suitable there or adverts.ie. Worth a try anyway. there is also a facebook called wedding things for sale, they are munster based, but it's not the most active page unfortunatly.

Another option would be debenhams online, they have a nice selection.

And another would be to get a white maxi and add embellishments.

What type of dress is she looking for?

There's a shop in Newcastle west. I think it's called more to love bridal- I think they specialise in plus size dresses. Worth ringing them to see would they have dresses that could be bought off the rack.
It's also not that far away from you, so wouldn't be too much hassle to spin up there.

    Try a good dressmaker?

I ordered my plus size dress online from jjhouse online. Used custom fit size for measurements. It arrived in 3 weeks.

http://www.rubenbridal.ie/ I'm the same size as your friend and I bought my dress here, they were fantastic. I had plenty of time to order, but they may be able to put a rush order, or there could be a sample dress that would do. I'd say your best bet is to ring a few places and explain the situation, if those places can't help you they might know other places that would be a good bet.

You could try Simones in Sligo. I know they have a rack you can buy straight from so don't have to get it made etc. But I'm just not sure what sizes they have avaliable. I "think" they have a good range. You could ring them and ask what sizes they have.
