Last time I had one one (long time ago, and very long hair, but simple enough upstyle) it took about an hour.

15 mins is not going to happen.

even if I have my hair washed and dryed before hand I was told it would speed everything up

You need to have your hair washed the day before (preferably).

    Still took ages.

Phone the salon and talk to one of the stylists who do the upstyles. They're the ones who'll be able to tell you what's possible and realistic.

depends on the upstyle to be fair. a simple french roll will only take about fifteen minutes. and as the other poster has said, you will need the hair washed and dried from the previous day or your hair will be too soft to stay up.

My local salon has something called 'dry styling'. €15 for 15 minutes. Basically no washing or drying, no straightners, curlers etc. Just pinning and brushing. Something like that may suit?
