    Hi,

I want to take the white paint off our skirting boards and door frames and varnish a natural wood effect and am wondering which is better: This Black and decker mouse detail sander from Argos or this 300W multi function tool from Aldi ?
Should I start with a heat gun and scraper (could be tricky around the door frames) or "sand" the paint off?

Its going to be hard to get the skirting back to natural wood if it was me i would change the skirting for new. Are the door frames molded ones or is the door stop fixed on. If you can take the door stop of it will make life easier for sanding them. You could try the heat gun and see how you get on. For the time and effort you will spend trying to get the skirting back to natural its as easy in my mind to change the skirting is not that dear think its around €15 for a 16 foot length of skirting and change the door stop as well

I would agree with you Peter. I had a chat with herself and I think we are going to stick to the original white - just clean it up a bit. So, from what I read online, I should be just able to give a "light" sanding and use the original coat as a base coat.

    Yep, that'll do.
