Where do we start?

My elderly uncle has just told me he'd give us a site on his farm to build a (second) home in Kerry. I have absolutely no idea how we start. I'm keen to get going asap as two houses we were buying have fallen through so the clock is ticking. Has anyone any pointers so that we don't waste any more time?

Get a LOCAL architect/technician/engineer with experience of dealing with the local planner for the area.

Thanks. Will get onto that on Monday. I presume we need a solicitor too to get the site made over to me so will do that too.

Why not apply for planning first ? U may need toestablish a need for hhousing in the area first etc to qualify. No point transferring of planning is not possible.

+1 on this, cannot recommend this highly enough, we did this and it made all the difference, got planning for exactly what we wanted first time all due to Arch...

Thx for replies. I rang an engineer - local of course - and he was great so hopefully we have the ball rolling now.
