Sims 3 compatibility Windows 8.1 ?

Hello, daughter wants to get the Sims 3, she seems to want 3 rather than 4. Suits me fine price wise, only I saw on line that some people seemed to have compatibility issues with Windows 8.1. I've read about changing compatibility from the desktop icon, but after that things are not so clear : some people reckon it solved…

I've read about changing compatibility from the desktop icon, but after that things are not so clear : some people reckon it solved issues, others complain that it didn't.

Anyone with experience of using Sims 3 with Windows 8.1 here ?

I have no issues.

People tend to jump to 8.1 being the cause of problems.
