    There should be courses.

Aside from this, what's the deal with people driving through toll gates? As in, not paying and just tail gating the person in front who HAS paid.

Witnessed this myself today. Another time I saw it but convinced myself I had been seeing things.

The second car probably had an etoll tag.

Oh yeah sure stick the headlights on too. Make sure oncoming drivers can see nothing but you coming down the road, as long as you can see every things grand. Don't worry about anyone else.

    Be courteous, be safe.

Witnessed this on the M4. Barrier coming down on their roof was a sight.

They would use the express lane on the right. I think if you go through the regular gate you have to hand in your tag, usually if it's not functioning correctly.

Anyway surely anyone tailgating through a toll booth has their reg recorded?

Its now come to stage where you now see people with a blown fog light, maybe trying to compensate for the blown head light.

Then why not go through the etoll tag pathway??

Yes, I would never chance it as I would be terrified the barrier would come down too quick, it doesn't stay up very long! (Also the fact that it's dishonest?!)

It was in front of me, so I could see it pretty clearly. I was gobsmacked. Perhaps it is a regular enough occurrence. The last time (when I thought I imagined it) the car came through after me, but with no time to actually put their coins in and come through. Didn't think people with tags would use that gate.

There could be a slow car, or queue of cars, in front, someone having hassle with their tag up ahead, or the person just couldn't be arsed. There's no obligation to use it.

Once you see the display that's in advance of the barrier flash the payment you know you can sail on through behind the car in front without the barrier coming down.

On the m8 today. Truck goes to overtake another truck I was directly behind the overtaking truck in the right lane waiting for it to pass and pull in to the left lane so I could pass. Grand common enough situation truck was doing around 90kmh bear in mind the front of the overtaking truck hadn't quite reached the back of the truck so there was a bit of a gap not much. So some one in a polo speeds up the left lane and cuts in between the overtaking truck and the small enough gap. It's unreal what see.

Plenty of fun on the M7/N7 every Friday.

A blondey slammed her brakes to get across three lanes to her exit today at around 4:15 PM at the Kill exit.

It's kinda scary though. There needs to be more emphasis on driving on motorways and roundabouts, which are my personal bug bear

If you like to drive carefree, like me, at 80 kph I suggest using the outside lane. I never have anything in front of me blocking the view

Exactly. I have a tag and just sail through whichever booth is handiest at the time, right behind the car in front as the machine has already read my tag.

Not at all, there's great indicator use here in Ireland. I've seen indicating left to go right, right to go left, and either one to go straight on. My personal favorite is that special button that turns on all indicators, which then grants you absolute immunity to park wherever you choose so you can answer you phone

I had someone tailgate me through a toll. At least i think they did.
But they were in front of me

Basically i was approaching the M4 toll and indicated into the eflow lane.
Car in front of me swerves into the lane as well and slows down to 15/20mph.
I think they were doin it so the machine would read my tag and open the gate for them

Anyhoo there is an exit on the eflow lane if you dont have a tag or it's broken or whatever so i pulled out and went up to the normal gates.
Looked back to see the car sitting at the closed barrier and reversing back up to the exit

I'm presuming that you're being ironic about fog lights (when there's no fog) and that you're making the case for daytime running lights. :)

    Headlights at night!!
more times I've been blown out of it by truck's headlights on the other (oncoming) side due to the knob in front of me on my side not dimming.

Keep left at all times unless overtaking - I mean how hard can it be:mad:!

And then when you come off the motorway, you meet the man in black clothes on the black bike with no lights, but only ever before it gets bright or after it gets dark. Are these people all feckin vampires?

Drove on the M/N18 today from Gort -> Limerick. Had cruise control set to 120km/h the whole way and a lady in a white Mini D overtook me 5 times!

Every time I caught back up with her was glued to the rear bumper of another car doing 90km/h then she'd zoom past again a few minutes later at probably 140km/h. My one moment of happiness was when she shot past a Gosafe van on the 100km/h section near Limerick m:)

Now in fairness she was showing good lane discipline, indicating and not pulling out in front of anyone which several other drivers were all failing on...

    People need to:
    -Learn how to merge
    -Improve lane discipline
    -not tailgate
-indicate before (not midway through) a lane change

Learn how to merge, let people merge, not take half an hour to overtake, or just sit level with other cars and block everyone else, not hog lanes, drive at least as fast as the trucks(if trucks are forced to overtake you, GTFO the motorway you incompetent twat), stay left in general, don't ride the ass of the car in front of you, learn to use your lights or indicators, try to anticipate other what other drivers might do and try to keep cool. And most of all: include motorway training in the driver training. I mean what is this? We are not a third world country and it is not the 1950's.
