    Hi all,

I purchased a pair of headphones from ie.mobilefun.com on monday (I chose a shipping option for 3-5 days also).

On tuesday, I received the following email:

    Dear blank,

Thank you for your recent purchase from Mobile Fun.
To ensure that our customers are fully protected when placing their order with us online, we carry out security checks on a random selection of orders each day.
On this occasion, your order (ID: blank) has fallen into this selection, and I wondered if you would take a few minutes to answer a few security questions, found on the link below:

    mobilefun.wufoo.com/forms/mobile-fun-security-check-ireland/

As soon as we are in receipt of your answers, we will continue to process your order. If we don’t hear from you within 48 hours, we will make every possible effort to contact you to complete your order.
If you have any queries related to this, please don’t hesitate to contact us by reply to this email.
I look forward to hearing from you and processing your order.
    Thank you

I was shocked to read this email the day after having paid (by credit card) for the headphones.
The idea of requesting a customer to provide their credit card / bank details on an online form for a "random" security check after having already paid for the goods seems completely out of order. Would my order reference number and name not suffice for their purposes as identification ? Also they are holding my order until I fill out the form !? The idea of carrying out security checks after a sale makes no sense (at least not where you request the customers card details and hold their order).

What surprises me is that I ordered a phone cover off them 2 months ago and it arrived as expected without any issues.

I confirmed that the email address for the above message matches the one used in the other emails (confirmation of purchase for headphones and the purchase two months ago).

My next step was to call both the phone numbers provided in the email. I got onto the usual automated call answering machine and waited over 20 minutes before hanging up. No response on either number. I also replied to the email informing them that I'm not comfortable disclosing my credit card information on the online form and on that basis, if they can't send the headphones, that they cancel the order.

That was on tuesday and I've received no response yet. The order tracker on their website has displayed the same "order queued for processing" message since monday.

I'm not sure what to do next and would appreciate any advice!

They are only asking for the last 4 digits of your credit card, and the bank that issued it to you.
Although it does seem like a lot of information, considering that you have already ordered..

you could contact Ben Rheeston himself here - https://www.linkedin.com/pub/ben-rheeston/42/284/262

I personally would cancel it. But that's just me..

Some online shops do occasionally ask for details like that when paying by card (not when paying by Paypal) some ask for proof of address, copy of passport or driving licence, letter addressed to you, in your case they don't ask for much info but strange they ask you for Account Holders * I wouldn't think they can check that.

You can try cancelling and ordering again with Paypal.

    I just googled: mobilefun.co.uk scam

Explain the situation to your bank and cancel/chargeback. Have nothing else to do with them.

Dead contact details. Impossible to contact.

The search results show a 'pattern' identical to your experience.

The company does not seem to have a problem debiting accounts the day orders are recieved..

Moved to Online Buying and Auctions.

I personally wouldn't give such details considering the security check data is transmitted over HTTP not HTTPS.

Plus they are asking him to enter his details on a separate site to the one he ordered on.
