Just breaking on RTE text news, news of a 2 vehicle crash on the Hearse Road in Donabate, apparantly one of the vehicles car jacked at Donabate Golf Club.

So question is do you resist and get a kicking ( or worse ) or do you let them away with your pride and joy?

Myself ( as a taxi driver ) I'd offer to drive them and see if I got paid :)

I always drive with my doors locked so I'd go with resist. But obviously one does not know until one is in the situation

I'd give them the keys, sure nearly every insurance policy covers theft.

Was in a somewhat situation a number of years ago. Group of younglads one opened the door and tried to kick me, I slammed the door (on his leg) and drove off with his leg. Prick fell over. Good enough for the git.

So id say fight them or at least attempt a getaway.

No car on earth is worth a risk to your life or health. Cars can be replaced, people can't.

If they're already half in the car, or are outside the window with a gun, off they go and they're welcome to it.

If they're outside my locked doors with a screwdriver, then ****'em. I'll drive off one way or another - if my only way out is through/over them, then so be it. "I was scared and my foot slipped".

Does 3rd party fire and theft cover you if you hand over the keys?

Then I accidentally knocked it into reverse and drove over them again :)

I think if it was just one or two I'd resist but if it was a gang I'd just let my insurance deal with it I'd value my life more thanks my car tbh .

I imagine if there was duress involved then they'd pay, I suppose the question would be if someone just said "give us yer keys" or if someone said "giv us yer keys or I'll stab yer!"

I love my car it's the first car I've ever bought new. Even so I would never put myself or anyone in my car in danger. Just give them what they want and stay alive.

As a young man with no kids, I'd resist for sure. If/when I have a family I would let them have the car. Sick and tired of these scumbags running amok. I fancy my chances against a fair portion of them.

And then, in panic, I went forward again. In fact, I ended up performing a 53 point turn in my haste to escape.

Ooh good thinking. Let them have the car, with the family still in it! I like your style. :D

I don't read the Daily Mail so my fear level might be a bit low but I reckon the chances of this happening are so slim it's prob not even worth thinking about.

If it did happen to me I'd prob offer to drive them to St. Lomans or Dundrum. Anyone who would carjack an 05 Peugeot 206 1.1 is in dire need of specialist help!

I'd be impressed if they managed to find where to put they key in mine first, once they got that, they have the fun game of getting the key out :o took me the whole day when i bought it first to figure it out

Depend on the situation I suppose, no one knows what they'll do until they are in that situation. Had a fella try to prise my door open at a roundabout once. (knew him too, well knew of him, he was infamous in the local area) Anyway, he didn't succeed, I was too quick for him, and in a strange coincidence he wound up in casualty with a dislocated shoulder and bruised ribs that very same evening.

Its a car, its not worth putting yourself at risk for. I would just give them the keys and run away.

Fair play for not reading the daily mail, but this is on RTE teletext.

I don't think are to bothered about getting the key back out as they usually just abandon it or crash it.

I wouldent be giving over my car to easily to anyone, nope not at all.

It's like instinct now with me and people actually laugh when they get into my car with my routine :
    ~ engine on
    ~ lights on
    ~ doors locked!
~ only then does my seatbelt go on.
That's just the way I operate and hopefully won't change. I always lock my car doors driving anywhere.
I'd like to think I'd give the keys, but I know in my heart it won't happen easily. I'd keep my keys for as long as possible,

My life could well be saved if I'd hand them over though,

Before I left the car I would try to break off the key blade in the ignition. Let them try to drive it while holding the broken off bit with the chip up against the ignition.
