    Hi Folks,

I was parked outside a butchers in celbridge for 2 minutes, was keeping a lookout for wardens as I know its thick with them usually , I was looking out every 10 seconds and just as I was finished, bingo, there was a warden studying the car and taking notes. I literally said' I'm off' and jumped into the car before he could put anything on the screen.
My BIG question is, does he have to have put a ticket on the car or not to validate the whole thing or am I F*****!!?

Did this happen to anyone else in a similar situation ?

    Thanks

    R.

Twas hardly just two minutes if the warden had started taking notes...?

Would've been better off paying for 2 minutes' parking tbh.

I doubt the ticket has to be on the car to validate it, he still has your details after all.

Also, bit rude saying "I'm off" and then driving away, to be honest if I was him and had planned on "ignoring the ticket as you were present" I certainly wouldn't after seeing you drive away!

Look , if your not going to answer with something useful, don't bother. I don't understand folk that just use these forums as just a means for posting there own pointless answers, seriously, why bother answering??? time wasn't even the question , and yes it was literally 2 minutes.....

I don't understand folks who come to a forum looking for free legal advice and then get in a huff when they don't get the answer they want.

Perhaps he was taking note of the reg and time so he'd know when the grace period was up? If you'd stuck around long enough to find out you'd know, and you wouldn't have to come on here with your pointless question?

Find out who the issuing authority is, phone them, ask them, and you'll have your answer.

I don't understand pointless people that ignore what the forum is for and come here are start stupid threads over the nonsense they've done in their daily lives. If you want something - pay for it. If it's no parking don't park there. I'm sorry but this 'nation of chancers' thing is getting really bloody old.

I believe if you look at my post I did answer your question by saying

"I doubt the ticket has to be on the car to validate it, he still has your details after all."

Aside from that it's the internet so I have no issue stating that I think you were rude for driving off.

What did you get in the butchers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,491 ✭✭✭kingtut

and yes it was literally 2 minutes.....

I think you are missing the point, whether it's 2 minutes or 2 hours you still need a ticket!! (Unless it's outside the hours posted on the sign).

    Ya chancer :P

I'd guess it was a couple of minute steaks?

I really don't get the OPs beef - sounds like a load of porkies to me.

    I'll get my coat.

Genuine answer OP (pay no mind to the "comedians"): I'd say you are in the clear. Wardens will usually give you a few minutes before they start writing a ticket. However, rather than jumping into your car and scarpering, you should have approached him (they don't bite!) and explained the situation; that you were only in the butchers for a minute and were leaving now.

Yes OP is fine, if it wasn't completed and issued before you departed you didn't get a ticket.

OP - are you sure you were in an actual parking space and not a bus stop / loading bay / disabled space.

I hope I'm not mincing my words here now but I'd steak my wages on it that you'll definitely be facing the chop for this one. I don't know what your beef is with the other posters on here but if you have a butchers at what they're saying you'll see your goose is well and truly cooked. The fact that he didn't give you a ticket was probably because You didn't give him thyme to fillet in properly, you should have tried to meat with him to explain yourself instead of chickening out of it. No doubt the judge will have a bone to pick with you when you're up in front of him shortly....

    But Judge.

This parking ticket is invalid. According to anonymous poster xyz a copy of which I have for the court the hubba Gubba magic legislation applies so I can park wherever I like as long as the warden doesn't capture my flag within the alloted timesframe......

I don't believe he got a ticket. A warden is though entitled to post you on the ticket if you drive off after he/she has started the ticket. Other instances also allow for a ticket subsequent to offence having been committed be served at a later date.

Only enough to make soup. Perhaps the matter should be broth before the courts for a definitive answer?

OP. What colour is your Audi ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭billy few mates

Let's hope he just learns from this misteak, he's had to put up with a lot of ribbing on here over it and so his nose is probably out of joint but everyone knows these wardens are on a gravy train especially if you park on double yellow loins. Getting done for illegally parking for two minutes really takes the brisket...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,438 ✭✭✭✭endacl

Bigger question. Is the OP a pirate? There's a substantial 'AAAARRRR' in the thread title. And if so, why didn't they just make the parking warden walk the plank? Now that I think of it, how did a pirate get to Celbridge? It's miles from any deep water port.

If he is, then everything changes as maritime law applies and he cannot be compelled to dock.

True, I should have, have to say, thought some of the replies were quite funny.

I like the minute stake one...lol

Actually it was 'beef stir fry' fyi....

I should have talked to the warden ok. I panicked .....wasn't in particularly good form that day so I could have shot him if I'd had a gun....I,m sure we all had those days....?!

Don't mind them OP, they're only busting your chops..
The steaks were high parking outside the butchers...
You came to the wrong place for advise, they'll make mince meat of you...
Like a lamb to the slaughter!:pac:

Now that I think of it it was at a buss stop area, it certainly wasn't a parking space as such. I personally accept that I'm F*****.
Though if the ticked was only being written and I buzzed off then....well, we'll wait and see....
Half of you should have been on the F stage,,,,!!

OP just take off your number plates in future when you are parking, then you can park anywhere with no danger of getting a ticket.

This should be used in comprehension tests.
