I'll be travelling to Malaysia soon to be with my sister who lives in Kuala Lumpur for a family event. It's not a tourist trip really, I'll be staying in her city apartment and will be there for less than two weeks. No travelling to the countryside or anything like that (sadly!).

I'm finding it really hard to get any sensible advice on the shots I need to get - one well-known centre seems to want to vaccinate me against every disease known to man and charge me a fortune, other advice has been to update my Hep A shot and not bother with anything else. I've been told to take malaria medication by some and by others not to bother, that nobody takes it and it's not needed in KL itself.

I'd love if someone has answer as to what is realistically needed for a short trip to KL city. iI don't want to take any silly risks, but some of what I'm hearing seems, frankly, quite alarmist and profit-driven. Thanks!
