Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.
If you are having trouble with access or permissions on regional forums please post here to get access: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058365403/you-do-not-have-permission-for-that#latest

This is really Kafka-esque.

Sorry for starting another thread so soon but this is a different, though possibly related, issue. I got an email from ebay today saying that I have violated one of their policies but it wouldn't say how. I asked them on live chat and this is what they said. EBay's comments are in red, mine are in blue.

Welcome to eBay Live Help, my name is Alma. I'm happy to be able to assist you today.

I have an email from ebay saying I have violated a policy but it doesn't say how.

I am sorry the inconvenience this email gives you. Let me check your account in regards to this.

Would it be okay to wait for two minutes as I investigate in your account regarding your concern?

    yes

Thank you so much for confirming.

    Thank you for waiting patiently.

After checking your query, and yes I can confirm that email you received is from us. But do not worry for this is just a reminder and there will be no action taken against you.

but what have I done wrong?

Upon carefully reviewing your account, I found out the the notice you received is regarding to your previous communication in one of your transactions.

    which one?

Though, you do not have to worry about, this is just a warning it has nothing to do against your account. It just more of reminder.

I want to know which communication you mean.

what is the point of sending me a warning if I don't know what ebay is talking about?

I am afraid that I can't give specific answer to this query.

Do you not realise how ridiculous this is? Ebay sends me a warning, but will not tell me what I have done wrong. This makes no sense.

I understand that this is disappointing in your end. But rest assured that this has nothing to do anything in your account. You can enjoy using eBay as it is.

why won't you tell me which communication you mean?

As much as I wanted to , however, I'm afraid that we don't share any further information specifically.

Now how stupid is this? what is the point of warning me if they won't tell me what they are warning me about? As detailed in my other thread, I was having arguments with a seller over a refund and complained about them. I assume they've complained about me back as revenge, but I will not know for sure if ebay won't tell me. Just ridiculous! And if this is about something else, if I've violated a policy inadvertently how am I meant to know what not to do in future if they won't tell me what I've done wrong? This is just like the Trial by Kafka - I've clearly been charged and convicted of some ebay crime but nobody will tell me what the crime I've committed is!

I'd say it was over the removal of the bad feedback you left that seller, especially the accusation of extortion.

Why wouldn't they just tell me that?

I've read your other thread too. It is possible that the seller has complained about something you wrote, and (as it happens frequently) ebay advisor did not look into problem deeper, and awarded the seller what he was looking for - like lifted suspension, or deleted negative feedback, etc. At the end of the day, ebay is making money off sellers, not off buyers, so they don't want to be too hard on them-that's what it looks like. I've got damaged item sent to me by seller, and ebay took sides with the seller! No other online shop in the world would abandon buyer like that!
