The 16nm require a decent effort to engage and disengage ...
    No adjustment

If you are confident with clip less then they are fantastic...
If not... I would say take some time to get used to them before group rides!!!

Lovely feeling of " bolted in-ness" though

I have keo's too and as with any clip less pedals once you get used to them you'll never want to use anything else. Having said that I did crash once or twice in a slow traffic or due to car stopping without a warning etc and I didn't have time to react. After a while it didn't matter as you tend to develop your balancing skills while on bike. I never used any other cleats apart from the grey "standard" ones that allow certain amount of play. It's important to see how your feet naturally align during the pedal strokes. I was using time pedals in the beginning of my cycling career. Then used them once after few years and they just felt wrong the way they kept my foot in certain position. So at least you get some margin of movement that might not have negative consequences for your joints when using the grey cleats.

I use the 12nm blades and they are fantastic. Perfect for training and racing. Never need a higher level of retention.

Assume you're asking about these the look Blade 2. I have them with the 16nm blade and really like how secure they feel bit more effort to clip out but you soon get used to it. My older look classics that go to 12nm max tension feel realy loose now in comparison.

I have been using look pedals "the one's that use delta cleats" for the last 15 or so years and I've always been putting them to the tightest possible setting. I have yet to use the keo pedals. Have you or anybody else got to use both in the past & if so, are the keo's much more secure"tight"? Thanks

I used delta's for a few months on my brothers bike when I first started 5 years ago. Didn't notice a huge difference when I started using keo classics. The platform is a little bigger and they are probably a little easier to clip into. I was still very new to clipless pedals then though and had the tension down lowest. I probably would notice more of a difference now.

No need for 16nm unless you're racing imo
