We are travelling to cuba in November, leaving Dublin to London and then on to Havana. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as duty free shopping in Havana airport and if not do we still qualify for duty free shopping on our way back in the UK? Could we buy at the start of our trip and have it held until our return?

shop and collect only applies if you are traveling within the EU (where there is no duty free shopping anyway).

There is a Duty Free shop in Jose Marti Airport :

I got a nice bottle of rum in Havana airport - for a fraction of what it is here. They didnt offer to seal the bag in an EU friendly bag. Got it confiscated when I was transferring in Madrid :( I wouldnt mind except I am fairly certain I didnt have to go through security on the way out when transferring in MAD.

OP - if you are collecting bags in London, this shouldnt be an issue. Just collect the bag and put the liquids in the bag for checking in to Dublin. If you are going through London as a transfer passenger - try and ask them for a sealed bag.

There is also a nice little chocolate shop across the corridor from the main duty free. Makes a change to the usual Nestle and Toblerone stuff you get in airports. Cuba has some very nice chocolate :)
