Should be fine now. Maybe stick a brick or a rock under a wheel just in case

Don't forget to turn the steering so in the event the rock, stone, handbrake and in gear fail it will roll harmlessly to one side rather than across the road

I've seen that many people in Ireland put handbrake on, but often don't bother with putting gear on when parking the car.

I'm rather opposite. I'd always leave car in gear, but only engage handbrake when car is parked on slope.

Rubbish hand break on WW and its clones.
Should have sold those cars with a wheel chock and bit of string.

Just notice the break and brake mistake I made

its down to the heat generated from driving when hand brake is applied it holds, but when parked for a while the drum and shoes cool down and there is less pressure on the brake shoes. You probably would never notice if parking on flat ground.
Or if brake cable had more elasticity the thermal effect on parts wouldn't be as critical
