Fire shut-off valve - can they be reset?

    Hi all,
got a new Oil burner installed earlier this year and it worked fine. Just went o start it up again this week after the summer break and there's no oil getting through. I've check all the line I can, and the oil is gettting as far as (what I'm assuming is) the fire valve and no further.

Anyone ever hear of one of these just failing for no reason?

Do you know if they can be reset or do they need to be replaced?

The valve looks quite like this one:

Pull up the red spindle. It should click open and stay open. If not, replace.

Make sure sensor is not against anything hot.

Cheers mate, went out & lifted it and oil came through straight away.
It wont stay up though so I guess a new one is required. It's outside the burner housing so I'd be surprised if it got too hot - it certainly didn't cut out the last time it was run.
I suspect either someone pressed the spindle with the 'Do not press down' sticker on it Fr. Dougal McGuire style, or the valve was just faulty.
System will be under warranty I'd imagine so hopefully wont cost me too much to replace.

Sensor is at the other end of wire, see photo.
It's normally positioned close to the boiler/burner.

Anyway, you need a new one.

I came across this DIY repair. A plastic clip.
Customers response was that the clip will also melt in a fire allowing faulty valve to shut off.
Fire valve was internal next to boiler.
