Sky TV and broadband question

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I did some searches and could only find very old threads. I just had a few questions about Sky's service and thought someone here could probably help.

Just wondering what the process is for having digital on multiple TVs in a house? Is it a matter of having multiple boxes connected to the dish or what? And if so are there additional costs involved in the setup?

And secondly I just wanted opinions on Sky's broadband package, I'm currently on Eircom ADSL since we can't get UPC where I am. So we were looking into combining the TV and broadband but we don't want to lose any broadband quality. I assume it would be pretty much the same but thought I would ask anyway!

    Cheers for any help!

You have a couple of choices. Most lnb's have 4 connections now unless they changed over the last couple of years. If u don't want to pay for sky, you have the possibility of having 4 separate transmissions to 4 separate boxes (not necessarily sky ones either ;-) )going to 4 separate tv's, all viewable independently of each other. If u want to sign up to sky u will use 2 of those connection for live pause and on demand features, leaving 2 alternative options free to connect to your other tv's. The set up I have is pretty handy and very easy to do. I have sky set up in my main sitting room with on demand features, using sky eye I have the video signal sent to my bedroom. In my back sitting room I have an older sky box connected to one socket on my dish for access to all its and uk free to air channels. All itv's and bbc's etc.

For my last available connection on the satelite I have running directly to my smart tv, which has a satelite tuner so no box required, most do as standard nowadays, and I have a harddrive connected to this so I can record Itv programs etc. Note panasonic satelite connections have better freesat access because of Itv player feature exclusive to this manufacturer. I know this because I have both sony and panasonic smart tv's and channel listing are different.

Regarding broadband, I am with vodafone unlimited broadband ONLY for €25 per month (€35 I think is the minimum now) and have no issues. Combined with a steal from sky after I cancelled our subscription they offered us sky value bundle for €9 per month after hounding me for months to come back. I am not sure of the services sky offer for broadband, someone else will have to let u know about that.

Anyway best of luck and hope this helped a bit, I have a habit of rambling but it is pretty easy set up.

EDIT your main query was cost, my set up only cost me coax cabling and some connectors. The sky boxes I got off friends/family who had spares unused

Phone line is no longer required for multi-room for new customers.
Extra boxes cost an additional €15 per month.

Sky are going to be adding fibre broadband fairly shortly have seen prices of between €40-45 being mentioned , and a combined package of tv and unlimited broadband for approx €66-70 mentioned.
