in fairness, it always had an advantage over 2020.

Sustaining it will be the real trick to pull off. Too many of China's economic figures are "massaged" by their government for them to be of value, certainly not to be taken and printed as truth. They have the largest commodity bubble in history and their exports in a few areas are down from 5 years ago. It'll be interesting times ahead to see if they manage to navigate all this.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

It seems China has become the World's largest economy a lot quicker than 2020:

Has China not been an economic superpower for years?

Thread title is a bit misleading. China isn't a superpower.

Here is a great site for sourcing and ordering goods manufactured in China, pretty much everything under the sun is on here.

    Alibaba

I've been hearing this for over a decade now and I'm becoming less convinced it is economic analysis and more convinced it's propaganda. Also, since when have economic bubbles seen the end of capitalistic development?

The US/West has been managing bubbles for decades now so there's no reason the Chinese can't centrally manage any economic shock without having two sides of the business class arguing about how to do it, and dithering, like in the US/EU.

    I agree.

China (whether through fair means or foul) has an iron grip on its currency & is completely unburdened by things like social services, environmental regulation & intellectual property rights.
GDP growth is all but certain.

She can ride storms as well as anyone else.

Not sure I follow you. Are you saying that the IMF have determined that China is the world's largest economy based on, well, China's say-so?
