Control heating over wifi

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a product that I can buy to add to or replace the timer clock in my boilerhouse so that I could control the heating via an app on a smartphone or ipad over wifi. At present we dont have a heating control in the house so every time we need to turn on or off the heating or change the timer settings it involves a trip out to the boiler house which isnt ideal. All suggestions appreciated thanks.

This works well and you can set lots of timers on it. Some of the more complicated devices have thermostatic functions, but this is just on/off and timer. Easy to set-up with your wifi and phone.
May be possible to get it cheaper. Do a web search. btw if you can find a Wemo Insight switch it has even more functionality, but I haven't been able to locate one suitable for these islands.

Thanks for the quick response. Looking at it there Im just wondering do I plug it in in the boiler house and then wire the boiler onto a plug and plug the boiler into it? Sorry about all the questions!

Climote is an excellent product. I've had it for a year or so, and is very useful.

Saw it online and would love it but I think it's €399 ?? just cant justify it at that price I'm afraid. BTW as far as I know electric Ireland are offering customers who switch over their gas and elec to them this month on a 2 year contract a free climote.

Depends on how your boiler and circulating pump is wired. You may have to replace your timer with a 3 pin socket. Maybe there is a socket there already. Post a photo of the timer switch area if you want us to be of better help.

Wow, no idea it was that much. I think it was half that price a year or 2 ago when I got it installed.

Cant see how you could get full use from such a device in the op's case. He would need a lot of extra controls on his system to get proper use of any of those devices.

Thanks I will do. If Scudo sees this post he may know as he services the boiler.

For wireless to boiler house signal will have to pass through 2 concrete walls.!!!

Look up BELKIN WE MO @ Harvey Normans.
    and EPH Wireless controls.

Fit New wires to shed from clock.

    Can't remember what you had.

Check your wifi signal in boiler house using your phone before you purchase.

You could have a look at the new Nest thermostat. They have them in Harvey Norman as well. I'm thinking of getting one myself.
You can control it from your app and the stat speaks wirelessly to the heating controller so it could be put in your house

I installed the Belkin WEMO switch on my heating last year and it works perfectly. I wired it in parallel with the existing timer clock and a separate booster switch I had previously installed. I don't use the old timer clock any more as I programmed the Belkin WEMO to come on and off at required times using the smartphone app. The old timer switch and WEMO are hidden in a cupboard in the kitchen - about 30 feet from my router and works perfectly.

I also use my smartphone to turn the heating/WEMO on remotely before I get home which is very handy. I have the WEMO linked up with the IFTTT.com website to keep track of usage and send me an email whenever the WEMO is switched on or off too.

The WEMO switch was about €40 when I bought it in Harvey Normans. The best money I spent however was on the booster switch - I bought one which boosts for 15, 30 or 60 minutes and it has since eliminated anyone leaving the heating on accidently - a must have.

I also use ifttt with a google drive worksheet which is great. I emailed Belkin to see if they would include a countdown and block times in their app. That would do away with the need for a booster. Perhaps a few more such requests would prompt them along.....
