Places to eat in Holyhead

Can anyone recommend a place to eat a reasonable meal between arriving on the Swift (about 1045) and leaving on the Virgin train to London (about 1400)?

I know Holyhead has a pretty poor reputation, but the fact is I'm going to be there, and I'm going to be hungry. Last time I was there, there was a Lidl (not exactly a meal, but food all the same) and a McDonalds.

Is there anything else there within walking distance that might fit the bill? Something like a Weatherspoons or equivalent would work for me.

    Thanks,

    z

I was 4 hrs early for the boat and after driving around seeing how crap holyhead is, this was like finding mecca. Typical weatherspoons value and fare. Not much atmosphere but lovelt in every other way

I missed a ferry by about 10 minutes after a 7 hour drive from London once and had to wait about 4 hours for the next departure. I asked the guys at the check in booth what's the best thing to do in Holyhead, they said "leave" :pac:

I'd go for the Lidl organic bananas myself :)

Why don't you get an earlier train? Seems pointless to waste 3 hours in HHD when you could be halfway to London. Get the 11.27 and change in Bangor for the 12.24 to Euston arr 15.39.

Thanks Vic - I might do that. Initially I thought that all the connections involved going all the way to Chester in a 'local train' and then changing, but the change in Bangor doesn't sound so bad if it's a Voyager all the way from there to London. I have bad memories of getting the train back from London and sitting in absolutely crummy & cramped local trains all the way.
