Hi, my son sat his leaving cert in june, we know that he would be a child dependent for 3 months after but we still got paid for him today. What exact date should his money have been cut? I'm confused is it 3 months from last exam or 3 months from the end of June?

Is he still under 18 years of age? If not is he in college?

I am presuming that its jobseekers payment that you are on. You need to call into you sw office and get him taken off your claim and he needs to go in and make his own claim for jobseekers allowance. He should have made his own claim 12 weeks after the date of his last exam. If he was assessed as Nil means then he would receive €100pw as opposed to the €29.80 that you were getting for him. You should tell him to ask for his claim to be back dated to the date he should have applied from. There will be an overlap between his claim and your claim but that will be sorted with and inter scheme adjustment.
