    Reverse the first law to get:
    [latex]1 = a^0[/latex]

    So the second law can be re-written as
    [latex]\displaystyle a^{-m} = \frac{1}{a^m} = \frac{a^0}{a^m}[/latex]

    Now focus on the last two terms and apply rule 4 to the last term
    [latex]\displaystyle \frac{a^0}{a^m}= a^{0-m} = a^{-m}[/latex]

    This therefore gives
    [latex]\displaystyle \frac{1}{a^m} = a^{-m}[/latex]

    Thank you. I did some practise questions and can now recite the laws, there were just a few laws that were similar.
