    Hi all,
I'm delighted to announce that Nody has agreed to become a mod for Fantasy Sports arena for the time being.

Although Nody has no knowledge of the Fantasy Premier League game (luckily for him!), he is an excellent moderator and contributor across the site.

Please give a warm welcome to Nody!

    Hello everyone,

I'll be the first one to admit I've got close to no knowledge of Fantasy Sports arena but I hate to see FG being alone in the forum so I offered to come and assist; if anything I can honestly say I'm about as unbiased as it comes :P. If you do report something don't be surprised if I come back and ask you for clarification; it's not an implication you should not have reported it but simply to help me get up to speed on the issue. As for mod style it's relatively laid back, anything I post as a Mod will be:

    //MOD

    Message

    //MOD

So hard to miss really and if it's a thread issue going beyond a page or two you'll find a copy in the first post as well of the thread warning with updated thread title. I don't expect everyone will agree with every decision I make but I'm always willing to discuss them via Private Messages (and only via PM; if you take it to the thread it's a breach of boards.ie's rules and will be dealt with accordingly).

    Welcome Nody :)

You have big boots to fill as I hear the previous mod was a really cool guy, some might even call him a legend :pac:

Seriously though I wish you the best of luck and it's great to see somebody come on board to help out after I stepped down in the summer.

Is it pronounced Noddy as in the song, or does it rhyme with body? :p

Not if you spell it like the character from the greatest film ever made...
Anything with Keanu Reeves in it is by definition not the greatest film ever made (though Bill & Tedd's Excellent Adventures was a good attempt)...

As for the name; it's short for "Nobody" (Nobody was taken; hence Nody) which was the first alt I made in Everquest (oh the glory days of MMO) and having played a priest I wanted not to be noticed at all; hence "Nobody" was born :pac:.
Do you even have a team??

Should be a handy enough role for you hopefully.
No team; I'm still flabbergasted by the terms thrown around but I'm working on it :P

    ....... Whoa....

    A scanner darkly?
    Johnny mnemonic?
    The matrix?
"the bus that couldn't slow down"?

And that's before we even get to point break and both. Bill & Teds.

Maybe we should have a dictionary thread to help you (and newbies) with some of the terms used?

I'll kick things off with DGW (double game week) - the holy grail of Game Weeks. When some teams play twice (due to a postponement etc) and so those players involved have an opportunity to score points in both games.

A good captain choice here can see you shoot up the leaderboard.

And WILDCARD. Twice a season you can make an unlimited number of transfers during that week without incurring -4 points per transfer (after your weekly 1 free transfer).

    ....... Whoa....
Sorry hate the guy and think his acting skills are below Arnold in Commander (Ted worked because he could play as a braindead tennager which is how most of his acting plays out anyway)...

    Welcome Nody.

You'll get to know the terms fairly quickly, it won't be long until you're kneejerking onto a bandwagon with the rest of the casuals whilst the actives wonder why, as all they can see is unfavourable future fixtures.... :)

All you really have to know is that Finnharpsboy is the real future guy... In the sense that he lives in a parallel universe...no, not Donegal... But he exists 30 seconds ahead off us all!
When he gives an update on the match day thread, it's going to happen in real life very very soon.
Some say he was also The Stig!

Keep an eye out for Mr. P, he has got off to a great start this year but the forum is braced for his inevitable downfall ;) it won't be an explosive incident, it'll be more akin to a kid being given a puppy at Christmas only for his parents to decide that they just can't keep it in February... Many shoulders will be required.
Then there's Shifty, who plays a style of football that would grace the Champions League, but he is confined to League Two! There's nothing to suggest a downfall will happen here though.

Think that's about all you need to know.

    I almost forgot to mention:
Always Captain Bojan and there are no strikers in the premiere league that use up all 5 vowels in their name :)

You will also see many references to a 'WC.' Just so you know, this is NOT a reference to a toilet.

So when you see someone saying 'My team did terrible this week, I need to use the WC', they are not saying that their team is so poor that they feel the sudden urge void their bowels.

When someone says 'Can't believe I used the WC and it didn't work', this does not mean that there is a nasty surprise waiting for the next user of the toilet.

When someone says 'Dumped Ramsey in the WC' this does not mean that they have thrown a Premier league footballer into the toilet.

Furthering to onecoldhands advice relating to wildcards (WCS, I would like to draw attention to the use of BAPS.

BAPS is short for "bonus points" which are handed out for the best players in each game.

Just in case you see posts like this and initially find them to be inappropriate.

"I got home from work and my wife showed me her BAPS - not very impressive IMO"

    "Great BAPS there, KevIRL"

"Can someone post a link to the BAPS please"

And although I've no doubt that some posters may read the Financial Times

    "I've 2 FT's and I don't know what to do, please advise"

This doesn't mean that we've went down and bought 2 copies of the Financial Times, nor does it mean that we don't know how to read a broadsheet newspaper. :)

    FT's are free transfers!

Zombie teams are teams whose manager has ceased to be active in the game leaving the team and formation unchanged over a period of time.

Not to be confused with deceased footballers who have reanimated and hunger for the flesh of the living while attired in tattered early nineties football strips.

The occasional person may refer to their delight in having 2 free trannies this week. You may think someone has incorrectly posted in here rather than in after hours however he just means he has 2 free transfers this week.

Actually no. The use of 'trannies' is an automatic 1 month ban.

I'll occasionally refer to "Mickey Turner" but don't worry it's nothing to do with converting himself ( ;) )into anything.

It's an affectionate term for Michael Turner, a true legend of the FSA. Unfortunately himself and Norwich got relegated last season in what was a sad day for the parish. However he lives on in my avatar and we await his return to the big time next season again as he leads Norwich back to where they belong.

One day in the future he'll score a goal in the Premier League and I'll unleash what has become the most hotly anticipated celebration gif of all time. We've been waiting well over a year now but for now I'll continue to play the waiting game :)

Just to be clear, I was referring to the use of the word 'trannies' as a ridiculous abbreviation for the word 'transfers' to save 1 letter.

What mods get up to with trannies and cocaine is their own private business. ;)

The saving of one letter bit isn't the issue that concerns me.

It just makes it pointless as well as irritating.

I've said it before that I'm new but I will be handing out bans for anything like this or other prejudiced use of words even if it's intended in another context as described above. Taking time the time to write out transfer of trannie is not to much to ask nor any other word; this is my only warning on the subject.
