I am currently in the process of planning/designing a house for myself and i was just wondering if anyone could recommend solar products like hot water systems, solar power collectors and the costs involved etc. Thank You

I heard the CEO of -snip- show about a month ago. It's called Hone and provides an alternative to traditional solar HW systems by using nanotechnology. Looks interesting with supposedly massive performance although I have no idea of cost. I think the -snip-

Just to point out that I am in no way affiliated to the company that I referenced in the post and it was not an add. I merely stated that I had heard of the technology and it looked interesting.

Hi all I too am in the early days process and heard of hone but have not been able to find out much about them even on their site. Can someone tell me the following - will I for defo need a traditional heat / water backup if decide to get the PV in for my water and power?? My alternative is to put great insulation and solar water and gas in. For a 3,000 sq ft house I'm guessing the PV cost will be significant. Thanks

I got a PV quote for 2,800 sq feet house about 18 months ago:
    - 4.5KW/p (3697 KW/h) - €8,800
    - 6.5KW/p (5340 KW/h) - €10,800

I'm guessing these prices will come down over the years and hope to go for it then. I'm going to install a 2 inch duct from the roof space to the fuse board for now so it's ready to go.
