Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am hoping to attend ait as a second chance mature student next sept 2015. What do I need to do between now and then to register etc? do I go for interviews or does it depend on course? and is there any open evenings that are specific to mature students coming up?

    Thanks

Sorry for delay in replying, busy week.
Greetings from a mature AIT student to another.
    OK, the short version:

-This is the 2015 prospectus: http://www.ait.ie/media/athloneit/publications/AIT-undergraduate-prospectus-2015-16.pdf

-As a mature student, unless you have prior relevant experience/certifications, you sign up for the CAO (Opens in Nov, deadline is Feb 1st 2015): http://www.cao.ie/?page=timetableevents&bb=importantdates

NB: as a mature student at AIT, you will be interviewed (don't worry, this is simply procedure & to make sure you are actually serious about taking up a place.) You will also get the official offer for College in early July, >before< the Leaving Cert students get their offers.

-SUSI. This is important. SUSI = the body responsible for paying your College fees and, if not getting JSA/BTEA, they will also be the people you need to talk to/fill in forms to pay for your maintenance/living allowance: http://www.susi.ie/

NB: You will be asked for a lot of documentation for SUSI and to post to them, -don't send any originals! My advice? Make a min. of two copies. You'll send in the documents, hear nothing for a few weeks and then, possibly, be asked to send in a document that you could have sworn you did send in. Avoid this hassle, make two copies: post one to SUSI and hold the spare in reserve for fast posting if requested to complete the application. [I'm not knocking SUSI, simply, that this point of missing a specific document to complete the application process drove a lot of students to distraction over the last two years.]

-There is an AIT Open Day in November, expect a lot of "the joys of College", but still a great way to talk one-on-one with tutors and get a feel for the College: http://www.ait.ie/openday/

    Hope this helps?
