I cannot find any that workseven on the Dell website.
Have Google this also with no success.

    What XPS exactly?

There's several models, all of which would have different touchpads. For example the M1330 and M1730 have Synaptics pads but the M1530 has an Alps pad.

What Karsini said basically. Need more info. The software is specific to the touchpad itself. Each touchpad may also be specific to a certain model. There are several manufacturers of touchpads out there.

Best thing to do is get the service tag of the machine. Its usually on a sticker on the underside of the laptop.

    Enter the tag here: www.dell.com/support/drivers/ie/en/iebsdt1

Then select the appropriate OS. If you have an older model that doesn't have a listing for windows 8 or 8.1 Try the Windows 7 drivers. Should work like a charm.

By using the service tag it will automatically provide you with the CORRECT touchpad software and you should have no further issues :)

Hi Lads, thanks for your quick reply.
Have done all of the above, but there is no touchpad available for Windows 8.0 or 8.1 OS from the Dell website,I have tried the Windows 7 OS,this will only work sometimes and is a pain in the a$$ to use.I have a duel boot system, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 OS.
As far as I know Dell are getting a lot of cretisciem for not launching the drivers for there touchpads for Windows 8.1.
Have tried for the last few days via Google search, and have downloaded a few touchpad drivers but none worked.
My PC model is a Dell XPS 17" L702X

That laptop was only released in 2011, it's a Sandy Bridge i7. Bad form that they're not providing Windows 8 drivers for it. The Windows 7 touchpad driver should work but if it doesn't, try the generic Synaptics driver from here. Note that some functionality might be missing but it's generally OK.

I've found that on some more recent Dell laptops the touchpad drivers have been integrated into the chipset driver package, rather unhelpfully. Might be worth trying if there's no success with other options.

At this stage I am sick of trying to sort this issue out, thank God I have dual boot with Windows 7,which is sad this issue is widespread, because I really do like Windows 8.1.
