170km on the clock, using a lot of coolant this last mth, I service it every 10km, anyone know what's going on, cant see any leaks, hope its not the head gasket.

Any white smoke out of it? Get someone to watch the back of it while you've the toe down.

Coolant header tanks crack and leak on them.

    Ditto thermostat housings.

That's where I would start looking anyway.

Had a look at the exhaust, no white smoke, thank jaysus (I think), I hear what you're saying about the leaking but I cant see where though.
    Thanks again lad's.

Also water pumps and core plugs in the head but if they are gone it wouldnt run right.

Thing is its running fine, the fan was coming on after short runs in and out to the local town with the kids to school so I noticed there was very little coolant, stuck a bottle in last week and had to stick another one in today and it's gone below the min level again, like to get it sorted before the winter kicks in...

The thermostat housing is hidden in behind the inlet manifold on the front of the engine,(follow the left pipe from the rad looking in from the front) so you might not see it easy.Have a look underneath to see if its running down the engine when its cold.A look up there with a torch would help.Possibility anyway.

Take a good look around the engine for red crumbly deposits. These are the result of coolant leaks and the compounds within them. As above, coolant expansion tanks do crack on the regular.
