Transit losing power

I have a ford transit t330 SWB, over the last few weeks when I'm driving particularly on the motor overtaking or on long straights and when I put my foot down I immediately lose power. If I keep the foot on the pedal the van will just cut out and I have to bump it. If I take foot off the pedal the minute it lose power the van will keep going but will not go over 3000 rpm. When this happens the glow plug light comes on flashing on the dashboard. The only way to get the van back to normal is to restart. Does anyone have any idea what this is as I would like to have an idea of the problem before sending Into garage and being charged too much.

EGR stuck open, maybe? Any chance of getting the OBD-II codes read?

An EGR fault DTC would be standardised core powertrain OBD-II and any generic codescanner should pick it up.
