    Hi all,

I have a UK import 2007 VW Golf 1.9 TDi.
A few weeks ago I had to replace a broken spring in the front of the car and about a week later my ESP light came on and is staying on. I know this means the car has shut off the ESP system and have seen that there are some faulty batches out there but VW Ireland are not covering it. Price to fix from what I have seen in the UK is 1600 odd and I sure as hell dont have that kind of money to get it fixed.

Could it be something else in the car (like a fuse or sensor) or am I going to have to shell out for the large repair? (I will get my mecahnic to run a diagnostic after work today to find the exact fault code)

I had the same problem. I was able to buy a repair kit for about £250 up north with a vat number and a few hours labour fit a mechanic to fit and bleed the brakes. Hasn't missed a beat since.
I got a vw diagnostics done first for the name of the part

Until you know the fault code there is no point in speculating.

If it is the common brake pressure sensor problem then you can get it sorted for €450 or so which is still a lot of money but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than going to VW!

Just throwing this out there tracking? My mk4 esp light was on constantly when I bought it, got it tracked and it went out 2 weeks later, I think the steering angle sensor needed to find its centre again or something on those lines.

I'm not full sure about this kinda stuff so don't send me to the firing squad.
