I'd like to put together a new gaming machine over the next 6 weeks for my son who's minecraft obsessed, but wants to play all the new shiny games too.

The range of new CPU and mobo chipsets is all new and confusing to me, along with the sites that review these things which I might have relied on in the past to guide me.

I'd like it to last a good while, so something upto date and upgradeable would be good.

it's a low enough budget, but I already have plenty of random parts:

    1. What is your budget? [€400, inc vat and delivery]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming / Minecraft / AAA titles run as well as can be at 1080p)]

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Yes, ATX case/fans and power supply, several HDD's, DVD Writer and most cables already available]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [ No - Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc available already]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Paypal whatever.]

    9. When are you purchasing? [Within 4 weeks]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [Should be grand, will make the boy do it himself :) ]

I reckon I will need a CPU/Mobo/RAM combination that will last a while, if I can overclock at a later date with a new cooler for a push in performance, even better, I understand some of the new Intel CPU's can't be unlocked?

I'd like a small SSD along with that to boot from and maybe space a couple of games to load quicker on 64GB or 128GB would be fine, but not sure what make/model to go for.

As for graphics, I'll hand down the GTX660TI I'm running in my own machine and pick up something else for myself.

I was looking at this bundle on HWVD yesterday and it seems good, I would like to build around an i5-4590, although I note there's no 'K' version of that CPU and am open to other options if there's better out there?

I've seen ppl mention another site in relation to HWVD, geihals.de or simialar? how does that work, or is there a thread here explaining it? Worthwhile?
