I see there are upgrades available to all versions of the Di2, including the single spot multi shift. Has anyone upgraded theirs and how easy is it? I cant see my LBS having the kit so is it a matter of hiring the equipment and DIY?

    Thanks in advance for help.

Whatever you do don't apply the last update. Think it came out in August/September?

It stops you interchanging between the group sets.

My lbs did mine in July, luckily enough.

From the info I gleaned from various sites last week you can do "mashups" which involves adding Dura Ace parts to ultrgra systems or adding an 11s RD to the older 10s system, thus making it 11s

The last update stops the ability to interchange.

I was only interested in finding a "long" version of my RD, so I didn't look into it much further.

I have the unit for upgrading and updated/changed settings on my own and a few other bikes over the last couple of years.
The latest upgrade effects the ability to use only an 11speed rear mech to change to 11 speed ( ie using 10 speed shifters and front mech, its actually the fact that an 11 speed front mech is electronically adjustable which causes the conflict). This can be worked round if needed by getting an un-updated battery holder. There are more details on the site already quoted if you scroll through the comments.

Changing the settings is very easy and you can programme the shifters/shifting whichever way you want. It takes minutes to do.

Do you have any links to the gear you had to buy to "do it yourself"?

For the older versions with an external battery you need a SM-PCE1 interface for linking with the e-tube software on a pc, this will also work on the newer units. This is the unit I have. With the newer internal battery versions the charging unit SM-BCR2 doubles as a pc linkage (this is much cheaper but there is no way of making it work with older systems).
