It should be valid. I think those tickets do have a 7 day limit though.

    Weekly (10 Journey) Tickets
Weekly (10 Journey) Tickets are valid for 10 journeys as specified, and as shown by fare paid and/or other details on the ticket for a period of seven consecutive days inclusive of date of issue and including Sundays. For example, a Weekly Ticket issued on Tuesday is valid up to and including the following Monday. When a public holiday falls within the period of validity of a 10-journey ticket, the expiry date is automatically extended by one day without endorsement of ticket.

What you mean is that you bought an internet 10 journey ticket and when you boarded the bus it did not validate on the driver's machine so you could not be issued with the paper ticket.

On the booking website the following text appears:
Valid for ten journeys for a period of seven consecutive days inclusive of date of issue and including Sundays, for journey selected only. For example a Weekly Ticket issued on Tuesday is valid up to and including the following Monday.

The first outward part of your journey MUST take place on the date that you have specified.

Because you did not follow that condition your ticket was invalid and could not be issued by the driver.

You can apply for a refund on the unused ticket as per the instructions on their website: http://www.buseireann.ie/inner.php?id=296&__utma=93375374.1314511496.1385416938.1411659984.1412689348.9&__utmb=93375374.4.10.1412689348&__utmc=93375374&__utmx=-&__utmz=93375374.1411659984.8.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=154394352#refund

If you buy a new 10-jny the next day and use it they might give you a full refund on sending them a scan/photo. Happened to me once ages ago but otherwise I think they deduct a percentage from the refund.
