HSE Internship HCA Salary?

Hi everyone. I just started working as a Health Care assistant for the HSE. The salary for the first year is €21,741.

So far they've been very unclear about pay.

We only found out, (to our shock) that we would also have to pay a HSE pension levy which is more deductions I hadn't anticipated.

With Tax, PRSI, USC and a this pention levy... Im wodering how much the net weekly/forthnightly salary is?

Ive been asking around with other hsa's and theyve each given me a different answer. Ive done my own calculations too and I get a different figure everytime.

Is there anyone who is currently a hse intern on the same 2 year fixed contract or knows someone that is. That knows what the flat basic weekly/forthnight wage is?

The figures Im arriving at are 340euro..... 350euro...... 369euro...... 380euro.......

and everyone ive asked for far has told me X Y and Z.

So anyone....can u tell me the basic flat wage per week/ forthnight?

Hi, I'm considering going for this and am wondering if you have any further information. Do you receive extra allowance for unsocial hours, Sundays etc?

Depends on what tax credits your entitled to. As a single person you'll get 370pw after tax and deductions. Time and half for Saturdays double time Sundays.

Afraid I cant help you with the exact details that as i dont do night shifts.

Ok thanks for your help. What do you suppose the prospects are for gaining a contract when the internship ends?

Pretty much a given if your a decent worker. They are short on staff as it is and will be even more so with retirements.

They come up every so often on www.publicjobs.ie, keep an eye out there.

Check under General Support Staff and Paitent & Client Care on the left side of the page for vacencies. New ones pop up every couple of weeks or so.

I work with an agency in a HSE run hospital. I only do night shifts but the rates are pretty good. Its bloody hard work though and some of the nurses attitudes leave a lot to be desired.

Updating as I got the Job! Yes you are entitled to twilight rate at a rate of time and a sixth, and night rate of time and a quarter.

Not great but its something. I wonder are sundays any better?
Agency i was with was time and a third for nights and double time for sundays.

Time and a half for Saturday and double for Sunday. It doesnt pay as much as agency but its steady work for two years.

Is it 10.50 an hour? Just started myself and I'm not too sure rate of pay is!
