Cat Cafe

Oh my god, I'm just after reading on the journal that a cat cafe is due to open in Dublin in September 2015. It can't come quick enough for me to be honest. I'm not from Dublin but I would travel to the capital for a lunch and a cup of tea and play with some kitties.

I would love a dog cafe somewhere. Surely there would be a market for such a thing? Go for lunch and give a dog a rub on his head while you're having a bite to eat.

Did you know that when a cat likes another cat they both link their tails together in the shape of a love heart?

Well done on the puns. I think the cat cafe is a great idea. If I had a business head on me and if I had the money, I'd open a dog cafe. That would be a business idea for someone to take up I reckon.

Zoonotic Disease: What Can I Catch from my Cat?
    What is a zoonotic disease?
While most feline infectious diseases affect only cats, and most human infectious diseases affect only humans, it is important to be aware that some of these diseases—called zoonotic diseases—can be transmitted between cats and people. You are much more likely to contract ailments from other humans than you are from your cat. However, simple precautions, common sense, and good hygiene, including careful handling of litter boxes and treating cats with fleas and other parasites, can further reduce the risk of zoonotic disease.

    How are zoonotic diseases transmitted?
Transmission of a zoonotic disease can potentially occur when a person comes into direct contact with secretions or excretions—such as saliva or feces—from an infected cat. Additionally, a disease may be contracted through contact with water or food that has been contaminated by an infected cat. Many zoonotic diseases can be transmitted from fleas or ticks (called vectors) to a person or a cat from another animal.

Don't gather a bunch of cats together. They'll start plotting our downfall.

Those who want to go to a cat cafe? Besides, you can only get beverages in cat cafes.

I thought this was going to be one of those "oh those crazy Japanese" posts. At least the Japanese have an excuse, 70% of their country is mountain, the rest is city. In Ireland though you could just buy a field in Mayo and keep a thousand cats, no problem !

The crowdfunding has started for this, for those of you who love cats and want this to be a reality! I'm not affiliated with it in any way, I just really love cats :Dhttps://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-first-cat-cafe-in-dublin-ireland/x/9769820#pledges

They need €50,000 before the 2nd of April (about €820 per day) and to be honest, they're nowhere near target judging by these first few days. I really hope this comes off!

EDIT: I should add that if you make a donation, you'll be completely refunded if this doesn't come off.

50 G's to have a business planted at your feet.. If this takes off I can see a few bunny cafes opening up real soon! She will charge 10 euro a pop to go into the cafe for a coffee and a bun and a pussy to rub... Cheaper buying a cat!

Don't really like the idea of cats being mauled against their wishes.

Though I suppose the first person to lose an eye will serve as fair warning to those who come after.

I love cats, but I'm not sure how well a Cat Cafe will work in Dublin. They're very popular in China, Japan and other cities around the world where people can't have cats of their own due to tenancy regulations and shortage of space etc. A lot of medieval 'cats are evil' bullsh*t going on in this thread.
