Cannot be that expensive to get to Manchester.

    Grab it now!

Flight dates vary Nov £189 right through to May £175

It was not really a BA, more a reflection of the other thread

You can also fly to Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai for similar prices.
all go via Dubai and are operated by Etihad.

Ummm, from what I can tell it seems to be just a standard Indian city with no major defining features, is there some particular reason you'd want to go there?

It's ideally located to explore northern Kerala, an extremely beautiful part of India. There are fabulous beaches and incredibly scenic mountains within a couple of hours drive. The city itself holds little atttraction for most tourists although there is pretty impressive Portugese-built fort there.

Great if you want to detox also as they are considering banning alcohol right now in Kerela.

Not surprising. When I was there the sale of alcohol was already highly restricted. You had to go to state-run drink stores that only sold Kingfisher and horrible Indian versions of the more common spirits. They were strange, grim places and judging by the queues they weren't having much effect at limiting the use of alcohol. It was almost impossible to get a drink with a meal with the exception of a few high end places. That said, restaurants in resort towns like Kovalam and Varkala seemed to get away with selling alcohol fairly openly. I was served beer in a teapot on more that one occasion.

I flew back from Kozhikode airport some four weeks ago - crappy airport, but not too busy compared to Kochi/Cochin. Feb-March-April-May would be very warm.
