Sick cert - dates inclusive?

    Hi all,

Wondering if anyone could help me.
I'm off sick from work and was hoping to go back tomorrow, but as I'm recovering from a stomach virus I was advised that Wednesday would be better. When I looked at my cert (someone collected it for me) it said I am "unfit for work from 06/10/14 to 08/10/14." Does this mean I'm able to go back Wednesday,or it it Thursday? I feel like I am almost back to normal now and want to go back Wednesday, but I will be sent home if I come in before my cert says. All my internet research has brought up mixed results. I was always under the impression that the dates were inclusive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS everyone stock up on probiotics or something, the winter vomiting bug is back! :(

Ok, let me try re-wording the question: which is, can you go back sooner than it says on the cert? I'm sure your employer would allow it, but judging from your username, I'd imagine that you'd be better off bolstering your strength and immune system before hitting a classroom again.
EDIT: I didn't read that you would be sent home with an earlier sick cert date.

I would always assume them to be inclusive.

(Third level lecturer that was handed a sick cert today for a week, enjoying my tonsillitis!)

Apologies, I may have worded that badly.

The doctor told me over the phone that I should be okay to work on Wednesday, which is the 8th. The cert he left to be collected said that I am unfit to work from the 6th to the 8th. I am asking if it should it say from the 6th to the 7th to allow me to go back to work on Wednesday? Has he made a mistake? I can't remember the last time I've had to get a sick note.

I'm pretty much fine now, just exhausted and didn't want to go back whilst I was still contagious. Would feel guilty staying off on Wednesday when I know I will be fit to work.

Glad you are enjoying your tonsillitis Red Alert! ;)

    Update:

I called into the doctors surgery myself today and they told me that the dates were correct. Apparently they're not inclusive unless it says "incl." after the last date. You learn something new everyday!
