paid tax

    I have started a new job and this is my third payslip and noticed i paid over 40 euro in tax on 213 euro earnings is this correct?
    I earn 9.50 ph and have had previous jobs and don't remember this happening.

    When was your last job? Did you hand in your last 2014 p45 to your new employer? Is the 40 euro PAYE or USC, or a combination of both. Does your payslip tell you what basis of tax you are under, emergency (e), week one (w1) or normal (n, cum)

    my last job was 2011, i have had two previous payments and did not pay tax, this is what it says on the payslip

    Tax credit T.P 0.00
    Tax Cut-off T.P 631.00
    Emp'er PRSI T.P 18.17
    Emp'er pension T. 0.00

    also
    USC Payable 14.96


    the previous week showed this were i did not pay any tax

    Tax credit T.P 32.00
    Tax Cut-off T.P 631.00
    Emp'er PRSI T.P 5.25
    Emp'er pension T. 0.00

    sounds like your paying emergency tax

    Ring the revenue paye line 1890 number and have your pps and employer PAYE Number

    Allocate all your credits to them and you should get the tax back

    Great thanks, I'm just not sure why I didn't pay the first few weeks, thought it might have been a mistake, ill ring tomorrow and see what they say

    Sounds like you are in emergency tax week 5-8 of a new job after week 8 it gers worse again

    Yes it was emergency tax, contacted revenue and they soted it, thanks for the numbers and all your help, love boards.ie :)
