Replace open fire with gas fire?

I am considering replacing my open fire with a gas fire. Reasons - the open fire is a hassle with needing to be cleaned out, etc the morning after,we have very little space for storing coal or logs, we mostly use only this room during the day so a gas fire seems better than central heating in whole house, I like the idea of flicking a switch and heat and cosiness of a fire right away. So any reason I shouldn't do this or any pitfalls to look for? House is connected to mains gas for central heating, existing chimney backs on to the external wall which has the gas meter and piping running along it so hopefully this will limit the disruption involved. Anything I haven't considered that would make this a bad idea? And any idea of price or recommendations for a supplier I tge Dublin area. Thanks.
