Hey all! It’s my first time in a forum and I’m posting my query here expecting lot good suggestions. Any one here had a laser gum treatment before? There is an overgrowth of gum tissue in my mouth and I my friend has suggested me for a laser gum treatment. I’m basically scared of such treatments and its side effects. I’m also in search of a doctor who is an expert in this and can help me get rid of this trouble.

Gum recontouring wheather by laser or by scalpel can be a good treatment in selected cases. There are a lot of factors such as bone levels, cause of overgrowth and the ammount of tooth covered that will determine if you are suitable.

You will need to see a Periodontist (gum specialist) that you general dentist will refer you to for a treatment like this. Nobody on here can answer the specific risks for you.

Dont be too worried about the laser part, having the gums cut off or burned off is all the same. The most important factor is who does it.
