Does anyone know if you can print Aer Lingus Boarding Passes at the machines in the airport if you've already checked in online ?

I booked flights to London for my Mam & Dad and got an email to check in online this morning, I've done this and have got an email with a link to scan at the airport. They won't have access to this link so can they print boarding passes as they normally would ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes

That e-mail they send you is a trick to get you to pay for seat selection. If the flight is less 30 hours away you can do seat selection for free.

I believe so because there's always the risk of the phone battery going flat at the last minute but can't say for certain. When checking in online, there is an option to not download the boarding passes to your PC but to print them at one of the self-service (green) kiosks, I use this option all the time to save on printer ink.

Thanks, they fly tomorrow so seat selection was free. I was just worried they might not be able to access their boarding cards from the kiosk as check in had already been done

Tell them to write down the booking reference number and to use that at the self-service machines, it's the fastest way to retrieve your flight details since it's unique to your booking. Maybe send it to them as an SMS so they can retrieve it from the mobile while at the machine. Use CAPS for the letters so they don't confuse a lower case 'a' for a '6' and so on.

The self service kiosk said you have already checked in and gave no other option when they put in the reference code so they had to queue and go the desk. The lady there printed off the boarding cards for them, no problem.

Im not going to bother checking them in online for their return. The kiosk is a better option for them.

That happened me but I had selected print at home only to discover the printer was out of ink. Are you sure you selected print at kiosk?

You can check them in and save them the bother of doing the seat selection, just don't select that option to get a e-mail with a barcode to be scanned, that was the cause of your problem for the outbound leg and why the self-service machine refused to give you a boarding pass.

I checked in online from a guest PC in our London hotel a few weeks ago, I selected our seats and elected to print the boarding passes in Heathrow. Then when we got to T2 in LHR I went to one of the self-service machines and printed off our boarding passes no bother. The machines in LHR are generic, they're dark grey IIRC and you have to select Aer Lingus as the first option as they are used by passengers from multiple airlines.

I'm sure ''Send an email'' was the only option as I knew they needed to print at the kiosk so I would have selected it had it been available. I selected it thinking it was the only option maybe if I hadn't the next page may have given the kiosk option.

Ah well, I know now for next time.

    Thanks all

The OP said they used mobile check-in. There is no option to print anything. Going to a check-in desk is the only option if you can't access the mobile QR code for some reason.

still, with older folks travelling on airlines aside from Ryanair, the best policy might well be do nothing (which is too late for the OP who got that urge to check-in in advance)

Let them go to the airport and checkin at the checkin desk.
Very simple, no machines involved and is FREE !

sorry to re-open old thread but better than starting new one i guess but would it be ok for me to print out my boarding passes aswell as using their online app for boarding(just in case my battery runs dead or something)?
or does it have to be one or the other? thanks

Aer Lingus allow you to check in for your flight in the airport so you don't need to do any of that at all!
