Did you get a bargain this year Denis and I see in photo 6 that you had some opposition from another tog :D
Did you sell that mare you bought there last year?

Great set Denis, you've captured the essence of the fair for sure!

I was meant to head down myself but couldn't in the end. Next year perhaps :)

Some cracking shots there. #1 (horse running at the guy) & #4 (old man and horse) are best to my eye. They work well in color for sure. How did they look in black and white?

Personally, a bit of grain would be good, they are almost too sharp and clean, which doesn't suit the content so well, which is raw and gritty. Maybe even a film simulation, to add grain and a certain raw tone to the images. Thats all subjective though, some great work there.

    Some excellent shots.

    Capture the moment.

I was there also but I was a bit shy in approaching people.

how did you go about it

    Shoot first, ask questions later.......

The only posed shots are the man with the beard and the man with the horse. The rest are candid with little or no interaction between me and the subjects.

I stopped the man with the beard because he was about to walk out of the field so it was a case of stop him and ask or miss the opportunity.

The guy with the horse spotted me with the camera pointing at him and insisted on posing for me!
Because I shoot fairly wide I have no choice but to get up close so if they spot you they'll either ignore you, turn away or ask you what the pic is for. I usually tell them it's for the front page of Buy & Sell....always gets a laugh.
