Help needed with Portable HDD.

    Hi guys im not sure this is the forum for this but iv had good info from here before so i said id put it up here.

    So i have had this portable HDD for maybe 2 years now but last 6 months it hasn't worked and its just been left there. I attempted to fix it before but couldn't get anywhere with it. It mainly stored movies and music until i gave a friend of mine a loan of it at it came back in this form.

    When plugged into a pc it does not show up with auto run or show up under my computer. I then need to go into manage under my computer and disk storage and it shows up as a 500gb or 4--gb whatever but that is a RAW format.

    i have tried multiple ways of reformatting this volume just simply formatting / deleting the volume and creating a new one to format and assigning a letter to try get it to show up under my computer and it will not format. when I get to the formatting stage in begins but fails and then the drive disconnects from the pc i need to switch the drive on and off for it to show up under disk management again and any attempt to format results in this. The files are gone I can deal with that but I would just like to have a usable drive.

    Windows does tell me that the drive is healthy and from time to time it says the drive is unrecognized and i do have the latest drivers and again switching it off and on fixes this but every attempt to format the drive back to NTFS fails :/

    can anybody help me with this iv goggled it of course and cant seem to find the similar issue anywhere i have looked.

    any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated, its been sitting unusable for so long and i would just like to get it to work.

    Sounds like it's fubar. Wouldn't really bother trying to use it.

    A quick Google tells me that it has a two year warranty. Look for the receipt, and see if you're in luck.
