Squeaking coming from wheels

    HI
    I have a 2005 peugeot 206 1.1
I had brought the car to a local mechanic some months ago complaining of a squeaking coming from the wheels. They said the brakes were fine and couldn't find the problem. They suggested it may be the gearbox and so changed the gearbox oil. I thought myself that maybe and anti rattle spring on the brake calliper may have been dislodged and was against the wheel. I wasn't able to remove the front road wheels to inspect further corrosion had them "welded" onto the car. I did put my hands in behind the steel wheels and felt that there was nothing left on the pads and a bit of a lip on the discs.

I bought a set of Bolk discs and pads from Mrauto.ie and brought the car back to the mechanic. They replaced them and everything was good for a few days. Now the squeaking has gotten louder so much that I need to park outside of the apartment complex where I live for fear of waking the other residents. The sound stops when I press the brake. Could it be a failed or failing bearing or hub?
any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
