My neighbour has a 13ton in at the moment and he's paying 40 plus vat.
I always think a few euros more for a good operator is well worth it.

I hear reports of 20+ tonne diggers working on a major road project in Wicklow for 20€ an hour plus their diesel.

It seems to vary a bit with different areas. Road jobs are always gona be different ul have more lads cutting each other just to get in. I was kind of wonering more about the local man that does the farm work etc with a ex120 and a tractor and dump trailer. I suppose anywhere from 35-40 + vat for the digger diesel and driver is fair. Not a lot of return out of it realy if a pump or final drive something like that goes on the machine she would eat into a lot of weeks profit

Ya they under cut one another like mad on them jobs. Worst part about a 20+t digger in Ireland is it's to big for most work in Ireland and it's not even that big of a digger.

True that. Im in Australia at the minute and class anything under a 20 tonne as a mini digger. 30 tonne is the standard here. The ground is a lot harder though. At home we have an ex120 and also a 60 and a little 30. The 120 and 60 are plenty big for the farm work and cleaning drains stuff like that any bigger and your too far away from them

It's not the boys on the diggers have cut the rates to that, it's the crowd running it, it's a take it or leave it job....

No I was well sick of it in the end but that industry is tuff slogging. Love being back and the boss man is slowly handing me the rains of the farm so I have a challenge & plenty to do with that and my own business.

It's picking up here big time but it takes a while to get youst to the negativity of the usuall ones complaining ect. In one ear out the other it's not to bad here agin atall.

Yeah i was home in june seemed to be a good bit happening. A lot of lads got used to not working and dont want to work now. Itl be similar for myself now il either go with the diggers with the old man or set up a workshop of my own just weighing up the options
