Clearing up the appearance of scars caused by acne

Hey guys. I'm a 24 yr old guy and for most of my teens and my adult life I have had ance. Never overly bad but I've always had a few spots on my face. I seem to have finally gotten rid them after using Loreal Men Expert Black Charcoal wash for the past few months.

Thing is I'm now left with a lot of scars - mainly on my chin, cheeks and nose. What could I realistically get in a pharmacy today that will help reduce their appearance (not looking for makeup or concealer). I'm hoping for something that will remove scars completely or at least reduce their appearance.

Laser treatment would be ideal but for the time being its out of my price range.

Apparently Victoria Beckham (bear with me) got rid of her scars with plain old fashioned exfoliation. She had shocking skin and loads of scars and claims she just got a mild exfoliant and used it every night. It'd be a slow process, but way cheaper than laser! If you have had acne you may have sensitive skin tho so should be gentle with it. You can get a gentle exfoliant in most chemists. Look for Roc or La Roche Posay. I don't know if they do 'male' formulations, but for something like an exfoliant there should be no difference. Cost you about a tenner.

Yep I'd agree with teyla, you can get some pretty decent strength glycolic resurfacing washes and lotions for this very purpose. Neostrata do great stuff but you do need to start low and work up so I'd discuss it with the pharmasist first, you don't want to use any exfoliator without getting advice first in case your acne flairs back up again, because a lot of exfoliators dry out the skin which means you'll begin producing more oil and that might make the acne reappear.

You could also look into getting a chemical peel before starting with washes/creams in order to speed up the process a bit. They can be pricey but worth it for things like scarring etc. You'd need to speak with the aesthetician about your needs first and they'll advise you, although they may suggest a course of peels tbh. No harm booking a consultation and they can advise re products as well.

Vitamin e is supposed to be great for scarring, and vitamin c afaik. Maybe if you try posting in the beauty forum, there are a tonne of people who will give you brilliant advice.
