Stockholm (AFP) - Sweden's new Social Democrat prime minister Stefan Loefven unveiled what he called a "feminist" government including Green Party ministers for the first time in the Nordic country.

I wonder will this be Ireland in the not-too-distant future. We already have gender quotas for elections on the books (30% initially, 40% after that) which went through without much opposition.

Is this a full stop first. I have never heard of a government anywhere before referred to as a feminist government: either by the public or the government themselves.

The only reason he seems to be passing the "feminist" comment is because 50% of the cabinet are female. France had the same split two years ago.

Then they shouldn't be referring to themselves as feminist, which is far removed from equality

This site looks like it gives information on the election:
    http://www.electionresources.org/se/riksdag.php?election=2014

There was a party listed as "Feminist Initiative". It got 0 seats but 194,719 votes.

By my count, there are only 158 women now listed at members of the Riksdag:
    http://www.riksdagen.se/en/Members-and-parties/Members/In-alphabetical-order/

That's roughly the same as the 157 from their last election in 2010 and just gives women [(158/349) * 100] = 45% of the vote again.

Really though? Taking anything any Politican says at face value at this stage?

    Really? In Ireland?

Really? After all the sh*te Politicans did to this country in the last 10 years alone.

    :(

They will be eligible for State funding:
FI’s campaign can be considered successful – at least in parts. Having polled above 2.5% in the parliamentary elections, the party will now be eligible to receive tax-funded party financing for the first time

Also, more than one party can hold certain views.

Some of the sh*te politicians did in the last 10 years in my mind were (40%) gender quotas and the opt-out cohabitation bill where you can end up with close to the responsibilities of being married without ever getting married (many countries use opt-in rules).
