Cannot stop interference wireless bluetooth speaker

I have a brand new BUSH wireless bluetooth speaker which I only got yesterday. For some reason when I play music through wifi in the house, it is absolutely rubbish in comparison with if I play music through a 3G connection. Could there be something causing interference? I switched absolutely everything in the house off at the socket on the wall as a test with the exception of the router and the speaker, attempting to play music through the wifi with my Iphone but alas still the same problem. The speaker was only 6 foot away from the router in the sitting room and there was no concrete walls blocking signal or anything like that, but still the music was jumpy, skipping beats, generally very poor although no static noise coming through. I don`t think even the fact that I live in a semi detached house has any bearing on it as their is no neighbors living next door at the moment, so no possible technology interference from next door. From a quick google search, I see ppl recommending to change my router to a 5GZ setting as opposed to a 2.5GZ setting. I don`t even know what setting the router is currently on as it wouldn't be my area of expertise at all.

Any suggestions? Again, The music plays perfectly through a 3G connection but very poorly through a wifi connection.

I think you have some technologies mixed up here.
    • 3G: a satellite internet connection.
    • Bluetooth: a wireless protocol between devices.
    • Wi-Fi = 2.5GHz/5GHz 802.11a/b/g/n, wireless protocol from router to wi-fi devices (for internet).
What is the model of your speaker, and what device(s) are you connecting?

The make of the speaker is a BUSH but unfortunately that`s all the info I have on it, it was purchased from argos for a price of 33 euros. I cant even give a link to it because it`s currently only listed in the catalouge and not online for some reason..

Ive been playing media from my iPhone using both spotify and youtube..

What happens if you connect the iPhone with an audio cable to the speaker?
    Does it still lag?

Hey, what speed is your internet (www.speedtest.net/)? It could just be that you have terrible internet and not able to stream music fast enough whereas 3G is giving it to you faster?

No, once I connect the speaker direct to the phone, it resolves all issues and music streams perfectly but obviously its still playing through my wifi network, so would this suggest it is not a wifi speed problem?

I cannot check the speedtest cause I wont be at home until monday but I will report back soon....

Just to clarify a few things to get it straight in my head:

Using 3G on phone, connected via Bluetooth to speaker is fine
Using WI-FI on phone, connected via audio cable to speaker is fine.

Using WI-FI on phone, connected via Bluetooth to speaker is where the problem is arising?

If the above is true then I don't think it could be a speed problem since the WI-FI works fine when there is an audio cable connected.

Yes, thats perfectly correct, but whats also strange is that this is not the first speaker that ive had this exact problem with.. I had a less expensive speaker that this same problem existed with. I thought the speaker was faulty so returned it for the one I have now (different brand, different speaker) ... makes little sense to me...
